The famous Whirlpool Galaxy is a fascinating object, consisting of a pair of interacting, colliding galaxies. M51 (top) is a face-on Grand Design Spiral Galaxy. There are perhaps few other galaxies in Earth's night sky which exhibit such an elaborate and beautiful spiral structure.
